Our Mountains

The race will take place in Donovaly, a mountain village in Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region, located at 960 meters above sea level, where Veľká Fatra and Starohorské vrchy mountain ranges meet.

 

The village spans both the northern (Liptov) and southern (Horehronie) slopes of the mountain pass. Banská Bystrica and Ružomberok, the nearest cities, are about 27 km away, accessible via road I/59. The eastern area extends into Low Tatras National Park, home to Štrosy Nature Reserve.

Interesting Facts About Donovaly

A Mountain Paradise: Donovaly is a picturesque mountain village located at the intersection of Veľká Fatra and Starohorské Vrchy mountain ranges, at an altitude of 960 meters. It offers breathtaking views and pristine nature, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Skiing Destination: Donovaly is one of Slovakia's most famous ski resorts, featuring a wide variety of slopes for all skill levels. The area also includes one of the largest children's ski parks in Central Europe – Funpark Donovaly.

Hiking and Biking Trails: The region boasts an extensive network of marked trails for hiking and mountain biking. Trails lead through dense forests and open meadows, with stunning vistas of Low Tatras and surrounding areas.

Unique Sights: Donovaly is home to Habakuky Fairy-Tale Village, a magical theme park inspired by Slovak folklore. It’s a perfect spot for families and those who enjoy fairy-tale stories.

Historic Korytnica Spa: Nearby Korytnica, known for its mineral springs, was a popular spa town in the 19th century. Although the spa is no longer operational, visitors can still enjoy the natural spring water.

Registration

Registration for the International U18 Mountain Running Cup 2025 is organized by the National Federations.

Preliminary Entries

The Preliminary Entry Forms with all requested details shall reach the LOC and WMRA Secretary not later than two months before the competition day.

Final Entries

The Final Entry Forms with all requested details shall reach the LOC and WMRA Secretary no later than two Mondays before the day of competition (e.g. Monday, 16th June for competition on Sunday, 29th June)

Wednesday, June 11

  • Arrival of non-European teams

  • 13:30 – Lunch

  • 20:00 – Dinner

 

Thursday, June 12

  • Arrival of teams and WMRA delegates

  • 13:30 – Lunch

  • 20:00 – Dinner

 

Friday, June 13

  • 10:00 – Course inspection - walking distance (approx. 15 minutes)

  • 12:00 – Lunch

  • 17:00 – Technical meeting (team leaders only)

  • 18:00 – Opening ceremony

  • 19:00 – Dinner

  • 21:00–22:00 – VIP reception

 

Saturday, June 14

  • 9:30 – Recommanded departure to the race start (walking distance approx. 15 minutes)

  • 9:30 – Public race

  • 11:00 – U18 Cup start (girls)

  • 11:45 – U18 Cup start (boys)

  • 12:30 – Flower ceremony

  • 14:00 – Lunch

  • 18:00 – Medal ceremony and closing ceremony

  • 19:00–21:30 – After party

 

Sunday, June 15

  • Departure of participants

Course

The course runs mainly through forest terrain and meadows along marked hiking trails. Is 5.8 km long, with a total elevation gain of 513 meters. The starting point is located at a parking lot Park Snow Donovaly about a 15-minute walk from the accommodation. From this parking lot, a cable car operates to Nová Hoľa, where the finish line is situated.

Athletes' checked luggage will be transported from the start to the finish area, where it will be available for pickup. After the race, participants will be taken back to the start by cable car, or by minibus in case of unfavorable weather conditions.

Transport & Accomodation

Airport pickup (Vienna/Bratislava International Airport) will be done by volunteers from the organizing committee, with a bus transport to the event location (approx. 4 hours).
Everything necessary is available at the race venue within a 15-minute walking distance.

Other transport requests must be coordinated with the Organizing Committee and will be paid for by the federation requesting the service.

Accomodation for Teams

  • Accommodation is provided in triple, double and single rooms.

  • The LOC covers the accommodation for up to:

    • 3 boys and 3 girls per team.

    • 1 team leader for teams with 3 or fewer athletes, and 2 team leaders for teams with 4 or more athletes.

  • The LOC covers 3 nights (Thursday - Sunday).

 

For additional team members or nights, costs will be billed directly to the respective federation. Accommodation costs per night (including full board and taxes):

  • €70 for a triple room/ per night per person

  • €80 for a double room/ per night per person

  • €100 for a single room/ per night per person

 

Final registration requirements:

  • All competing athletes must be included in the final entry form.

  • The final invoice for accommodation will be based on the numbers provided in the final registration forms and must be paid in full, regardless of any subsequent reduction in participants.
